DR. DENNIS V. UMALI is a veterinarian specializing in Molecular Epidemiology of Poultry and Livestock Diseases. Graduating magna cum laude with a DVM from the University of the Philippines Los Banos in 2007, he obtained his PhD in Veterinary Science from Yamaguchi University, Japan in 2014. He's a Professor at UPLB's College of Veterinary Medicine, also consulting for poultry and swine farms in the Philippines. As Chair of the Avian Influenza Technical Working Group, he authored key guidelines for disease control. Dr. Umali continues his academic journey with a Postgraduate Certification in Poultry Production and Health from WVEPAH-OIE program at the University of Luxembourg. His contributions were recognized with the 2015 Outstanding Young Scientist of the Philippines Award and the 2016 Young Poultry Veterinarian of the Year Award.

DR. RENE C. SANTIAGO currently serves as the Agricultural Center Chief at the National Swine and Poultry Research and Development Center in Tiaong, Quezon. Concurrently, he leads the Farm Operations Group at the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI). As the National Coordinator for the Philippine Native Animal Development (PNAD) Program, he recently achieved the rank of Scientist I in the Scientific Career System. Formerly, he held the role of Assistant Director for Production and Research at BAI from February to December 2021. He also served as the Officer-In-Charge Center Director at the International Training Center on Pig Husbandry from January to October 2022. Dr. Santiago's research revolves around developing, improving, and promoting native animals in the Philippines. He led the "Development of Sustainable Breeder Philippine Mallard Duck Production System," giving rise to the iconic "Itik Pinas". His ongoing pursuits include the Development of Breeder Farms for Philippine Native Chickens, Conservation and Profitable Utilization of Philippine Native Pigs, and the Nationwide Livestock Advocacy Program on "Itik Pinas" and Native Pig. He holds a Master of Science in Animal Science from the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (2011) and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Dr. Yanga Francisco Balagtas College (1990).

QIAN ZHANG, a distinguished researcher and scientist in Poultry Nutrition, holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and an M.S. from China Agricultural University. Currently, as Senior Research Scientist at DSM Animal Nutrition & Health, Qian spearheads global research for product development and technical solutions. Her skill in aligning research with marketing demonstrates her comprehensive approach. Formerly at Novus International, she contributed to product differentiation through meticulous experiments and effective collaboration. Her academic voyage thrived as a Graduate Research Assistant at Purdue, focusing on avian intestinal defense and nutrient regulation. She skillfully managed diverse projects. With international exposure including MAFIC and an internship at Beijing Debao Qunxing Science & Technology, Qian's skills flourished. DR. MICHAELITO A. NALDO has been a faculty at Silliman University College of Agriculture since 2003. He earned a BSc degree in Agriculture, major in Animal Science, a MSc degree, major in Animal Nutrition, and minor in Biochemistry, and his PhD, major in poultry production and minor in environmental science, all from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He specializes in poultry and swine production and nutrition. He studies the environmental and social effects of small-scale chicken and swine farming. He also pioneered the small-holder farmer movement to raise free-range native chickens as an environmentally friendly and economically feasible production strategy. He also studied small-scale native chicken farming in numerous Negros Oriental municipalities.

DR. LILY LI has a PhD in Ruminant Physiology and Nutrition and a Master’s degree in Poultry Nutrition. She has over twenty-two years’ research and commercial experience across poultry, swine, ruminant, aqua nutrition and production. She also has more than 10 years commercial feed industry experience as Senior Technical Manager with multi-national companies for Asia Pacific Region. This made her very familiar with the feed and farming enterprises within the Asia Pacific region. She also has five years’ worth of experience researching and teaching at the University of New England as a lecturer in Animal Nutrition. She has produced 45 refereed publications and has given numerous oral presentations at scientific meetings and industry events.

With this piglet nutrition expertise and research experience, she is now responsible for the global piglet portfolio of Nutrifeed and the global technical support thereof.

DR. SHERWIN I. CAMBA is a prominent academic and researcher in the field of Veterinary Science. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) in 2013 and later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Veterinary Science at Osaka Prefecture University, Japan, from 2016 to 2020. His dissertation focused on Salmonella contamination in layer farms due to rodent infestation. Currently, Dr. Camba holds the position of Assistant Professor 5 at UPLB's Institute of Animal Science, where he imparts knowledge on animal science and poultry production. He has also worked as an Independent Veterinary Consultant, offering technical support to various agricultural sectors and serving as a resource speaker at agricultural and veterinary events. Dr. Camba's research contributions have been published in esteemed international journals. Notably, his work has included the molecular diagnosis and characterization of poultry pathogens and epidemiological studies. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) and the World Poultry Science Association. Dr. Camba is a Diplomate of the Philippine College of Poultry Practitioners (PCPP) and an Associate Member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). His dedication to advancing veterinary science and animal welfare is a testament to his passion and expertise in the field.

ERMIN MAGTAGNOB graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Baños with a degree of BS in Agriculture with focus in Animal Science and specialization in Swine Nutrition. He began working with CJ Philippines Inc. in 2003 as a researcher. Ermin joined Cargill Philippines in 2008 as a formulator and then Novus in September 2016 as a Technical Services Specialist covering the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Ermin joined ADM Animal Nutrition in November 2022 to provide assistance and engage customers on unique and technical application of feed additives and ingredients to drive ADM and customers business growth.

DR. WILLIAM W. RILEY has extensive expertise in various sectors spanning animal feed, food safety, quality applications, regulatory compliance, and the animal health industry. He has collaborated with diverse stakeholders including veterinarians, plant breeders, corporate executives, government officials, and agricultural producers across continents. He has a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from Cornell University, an M.Sc. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Tennessee, and a B.Sc. in Physical Education from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Riley has assumed pivotal roles, such as CEO and President of WWR and Associates, Ltd., Visiting Professor at Ateneo de Manila University, Professorial Lecturer at the University of the Philippines - Diliman, and Professor at Jinan University, Guangzhou, China. He has also served as a Technical Consultant for numerous companies in China and beyond, impacting various industries. Notable achievements include his role as a Market Development Manager at Ontario Soybean Growers and a Special Advisor to the Director General at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Dr. Riley's involvement with organizations such as XCAN Grain Pool Ltd., Ag-West Biotech Inc., and Canola Council of Canada reflects his commitment to enhancing agricultural practices, food safety, and industry growth.

PEDRO E. URRIOLA is from Venezuela and studied the equivalent to Veterinary Medicine at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He completed an MS at the University of Minnesota and a PhD in Swine Nutrition at the University of Illinois. After that, Pedro worked at Cargill Animal Nutrition in Elk River, Minnesota. Currently, Pedro is an Associate Professor at the Department of Animal Sciences of the University of Minnesota. Pedro works in collaboration with the Integrated Animal Systems Biology team on nutritional evaluation of agro-industrial co-products using novel techniques. In addition to feed evaluation projects, Pedro is involved in projects on the management and control of infectious diseases transmission such as African Swine Fever in his appointment and with collaborations with the College of Veterinary Medicine. Pedro is coauthor in more than 50 peer-review publications, two book chapters, and 4.5 million dollars in funding.

DR. BEOB GYUN KIM is an academic and researcher in the field of Animal Science and Technology with an impressive portfolio of 128 journal publications. He holds a Ph.D. in Animal and Food Sciences from the University of Kentucky and an M.Sc. in Agricultural Biotechnology from Seoul National University, where he graduated as Valedictorian of his class. Dr. Kim's research journey began with a focus on swine nutrition and non-ruminant animal nutrition. Currently a Professor at Konkuk University in Seoul, Korea, Dr. Kim's academic path has included positions as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the same institution. He further enriched his expertise as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Kentucky and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Kim serves as an Associate Editor for prominent journals like Animal Feed Science and Technology and Animal Bioscience. He also contributes to the advancement of research through his roles on editorial boards and review boards for distinguished scientific platforms.

DR. SC. AGR. CHRISTIAN LÜCKSTÄDT received his Master’s degree in Animal Science from the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1996. In 2004 he obtained his Ph.D. in animal nutrition from Hohenheim University, Stuttgart, Germany. He subsequently worked as a product manager for an Austrian company between 2003 and 2007. From 2007 till 2014 he was a R&D Manager at ADDCON, responsible for product development on dietary acidifiers. Since 2015 he is ADDCON’s global Technical Director for the business unit “Feed”. Dr. Lückstädt is the sole editor of the books “Acidifiers in Animal Nutrition” and “Standards for Acidifiers”.

DR. AMIR GHANE started his studies in Veterinary Medicine, and later obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Poultry Science (Avian Physiology and Nutrition, and Ethology) from the University of Guelph, Canada, and was also International Scholar at North Carolina State University studying Avian Physiology and Nutrition. His studies and research focused on early nutrition, in-ovo feeding, incubation physiology, and feeding strategies. His early career was at Maple Leaf Farms in Canada at their Nutrition and Feed Research Laboratory, and subsequently in their poultry production operations. Afterward, he joined Friesen Group in Canada as Director of Operations for layer & broiler chicken production and subsequent experience included Operations Manager at Cargill Canada, and then with the Cherkizovo Group in Russia as Chief Operations Officer. Amir later joined Cargill Animal Protein, as Global Technical & Scientific Advisor and spent time in China, Canada, and Russia. He joined Devenish Nutrition as Senior International Executive in charge of business expansion in international markets. Most recently Amir was Poultry Technical Manager in the United States, focusing on GUT health solutions and providing technical support to key accounts. Currently, Amir holds the position of Technical Sales Director – ASPAC with Danisco Animal Nutrition and Health - IFF.

ROCHELLE ALIPIO FLORES is a dedicated Veterinarian with an unwavering commitment to advancing animal health. Employing a multi-disciplinary approach, her research pursuits revolve around deciphering host-pathogen interactions, particularly in the context of avian infectious diseases. She delves into immunobiology, immunopathology, pathogen resistance, and therapeutic interventions. Rochelle's academic journey took off with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 2015. In 2021, she earned her PhD in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from Gyeongsang National University, South Korea, building on her MSc in the same field achieved in 2018. Her scholarly contributions are underscored by a plethora of published research works. In her capacity as a Senior Researcher at the Virology and Avian Disease Infectious Disease Laboratory, Gyeongsang National University, South Korea, Rochelle spearheads investigations into host-disease dynamics, poultry coccidiosis, avian influenza surveillance, and infectious disease diagnostics. Previously, she was a Full-Time Research Student at the same laboratory, achieving remarkable milestones, including the completion of various projects and the publication of peer-reviewed articles. Her veterinary journey encompasses roles as a Veterinarian at Greenwoods Pet Hospital and as a Vet Intern with Wildlife in Need Inc., Ocean Adventure, and the Philippine Marine Mammal Stranding Network.

PEDRO E. URRIOLA is from Venezuela and studied the equivalent to Veterinary Medicine at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He completed an MS at the University of Minnesota and a PhD in Swine Nutrition at the University of Illinois. After that, Pedro worked at Cargill Animal Nutrition in Elk River, Minnesota. Currently, Pedro is an Associate Professor at the Department of Animal Sciences of the University of Minnesota. Pedro works in collaboration with the Integrated Animal Systems Biology team on nutritional evaluation of agro-industrial co-products using novel techniques. In addition to feed evaluation projects, Pedro is involved in projects on the management and control of infectious diseases transmission such as African Swine Fever in his appointment and with collaborations with the College of Veterinary Medicine. Pedro is coauthor in more than 50 peer-review publications, two book chapters, and 4.5 million dollars in funding.

She has over twenty-two years’ research and commercial experience across poultry, swine, ruminant, aqua nutrition and production. She also has more than 10 years commercial feed industry experience as Senior Technical Manager with multi-national companies for Asia Pacific Region. This made her very familiar with the feed and farming enterprises within the Asia Pacific region. She also has five years’ worth of experience researching and teaching at the University of New England as a lecturer in Animal Nutrition. She has produced 45 refereed publications and has given numerous oral presentations at scientific meetings and industry events.

Amir later joined Cargill Animal Protein, as Global Technical & Scientific Advisor and spent time in China, Canada, and Russia. He then studied agricultural sciences at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, Germany, and completed his study with a diploma thesis on duck nutrition. Afterwards, Andreas moved to Zurich, Switzerland, where he examined trace mineral nutrition in swine at the Federal Institute of Technology. After finalizing his doctoral thesis in 2000, Andreas joined Degussa – today Evonik Operations GmbH – as poultry nutritionist and was involved in many poultry related feeding studies but also in modelling of amino acid recommendations and development of respective software tools. From 2004/2005 onwards he also cared about aquaculture nutrition while in 2007 he got responsibility for the Animal Nutrition Research team at Evonik. In 2013 Andreas moved to the European sales platform as Regional Technical Director in order to manage technical support of the European sales force. In January 2017 Andreas moved to Service Marketing and fills the position as Poultry Expert and was heading the animal nutrition research team again.
